Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This will be a spoiler free post! So even if you haven't had a chance to see the film yet you'll be able to give this a read and not have the film ruined in anyway.

I'll be honest, I've already seen the film twice now,  and will likely see it a few more times before it exits the cinemas. I can honestly say I loved the film, hence why I'll be seeing it quite a few times. I'm a big Star Wars fan, probably nothing compared to people I know but I love the original films so I was extremely excited for this film to be released.

When I saw the film, it was great to be in a cinema with other fans of the films, there was cheering and clapping at various points during the film and it really helped the vibe that Star Wars was officially back and about to make our dreams come true! I actually felt a bit speechless when I walked out of the cinema after the first viewing, it just exceeded my expectations and to summarise, it's the best film I've seen this year.

So, lets talk about Disney, I was on team Disney from the start, a lot of people (some friends included) said Disney would ruin it etc blah blah blah. Seriously? Think about Disney, they've made so many brilliant films I knew they would smash this film as soon as it was announced. They really did a great job and brought back the magic of the original three, the love I felt when I watched my first Star Wars film flooded back when I was sat in the cinema watching The Force Awakens. Disney have done a great job and I'm really looking forward to the next film they release, as I reckon it's going to be even better that this one.

What was one of my absolute favourite things in the film? Something funny really. Don't worry this will spoil nothing, in fact it might just make you look out for it as I had to double check when I rewatched the film. At the very beginning, not long before the above image, the ships land and the stormtroopers are stepping off ready for combat. Literally as soon as the first ones are stepping off there's already one laying on the floor dead. Yep, a stormtrooper died straight away, I don't think he'll ever live that down. He stepped off for probably all of 2 seconds and was already flattened, poor guy, he thought it was he moment to shine and instead died straight away. I feel sorry for him, he was my favourite stormtrooper, even if he died within 2seconds and no one else seemed to notice! Let me know if you spot him - once it's released on DVD I'll update this post with a screen grab of the scene!

The new generation of characters were great, played by brilliant actors/actresses, and I have a particular soft spot for Adam Driver who plays Kylo Ren, he was utterly brilliant in this film. To be honest, all of the cast were great, Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn) were also great in their roles and I'm really looking forward to see the cast again in the next film. A film can have a great script, history and overall plot, but it's nothing without a great set of actors/actresses to pull it off, and I can safely say they were spot on. As were all of the special effects, it felt realistic and I felt immersed in their worlds.

Haven't seen Star Wars? Can't remember much of the previous films? I think this film can be seen without seeing previous ones, however you'll likely miss a lot of the nostalgic moments, humour and the overall family tree may be confusing for you. I do recommend you watch the original 3 at the very least, that's episodes 4,5,6 (not 1,2,3) - these are the best and will give you the knowledge you need.

If for some crazy reason you haven't seen the trailer watch it below now and then go and see the film!

I hope you enjoyed my little snippet of thoughts after seeing the film, let me know what you thought of the film!
