E3: Sony Playstation Conference

15:53

I sat impatiently waiting for 2am to finally roll round Tuesday morning and for the Sony conference to begin. I didn't get to watch the Microsoft one live, apart from following it via live blog a little bit so I was excited to finally sit and watch one in full. I'm not going to outline the entire night, especially when you can read it in full elsewhere, instead I'm going to write about the things that got me excited and maybe even some stuff I didn't. Lets just start shall we?

The first game that grabbed my attention was Gone Days, we had a brief clip early in the evening and they actually closed out the conference with a live demo of the game. It looks like a cross between Last of Us and Sons of Anarchy, and the zombies certainly look more alert than a slow moving zombie from many other games, which will definitely ramp up the intensity of this game. I'm excited, the graphics look good, I believe it's an open world game which is always a great element for me and again, it has a biker and a ton of zombies, what could possibly go wrong? Check out the trailer below:

Next up, is a game called Detroit Become Human, this instantly made me think 'I need this game', it's a decision making game and therefore your story will change and evolve as you play out your decisions. It immediately reminded me of Heavy Rain, particularly with the character investigating a crime scene, and of course the decision making element which can completely change the game. I've played and completed Heavy Rain, however I was pretty disappointed with the game, however this definitely looks miles ahead of Heavy Rain and I really hope it delivers on what this trailer shows. Check out the trailer below:

Hideo Kojima walked on stage to a roaring crowd and introduced his new game Death Stranding, this was one of the really exciting points during the evening. If you don't know who Hideo Kojima is, please go give him a google, as chances are you've either played or at least heard of some of his most notable work *cough* Metal Gear *cough*... Anyway, the teaser for Death Stranding was totally surreal, stars Norman Reedus, and well actually told us very little, but somehow I'm completely intrigued and I'll definitely be picking this game up once it's released. It's probably the mix of knowing his previous work, the fact Norman Reedus stars in it and the fact the trailer looked stunning. Seriously, take a look below and see what you think, I personally love the look of it and I'm excited to see more about he gameplay and story.

Sony didn't announce any new hardware apart from their Playstation VR (coming to the US in October - waiting on a UK release date), this is where my interest started to dive a little. I was hoping there would be a tiny teaser for the Neo console at the very end but sadly not this time round. I'm not too interested in the whole virtual reality gaming, it's always seemed a little too solo, and I enjoy watching my other half or friends play games, which I'm guessing isn't really something you can do when you've get a headset on! Some of the trailers/teasers they showed were pretty cool, but not enough to sell the headset to me, infact the only one that even tempted me a little was the Batman  game, because who doesn't want to be Batman?

I've waited until the end of this blog to talk about the announcement that literally made staying up until gone 3am totally worth it. Just watch below and experience the announcement like I did and then I'll talk some more after the video!

Yep, that's right! Crash Bandicoot is finally back. I cannot even begin to explain how long I've waited for this, I absolutely loved those games growing up and I've been dreaming of either a remaster or a new game for years. And at E3, Sony finally announced it's going to happen. They will be releasing not just one, but 3 Crash Bandicoot Remastered editions, and I'll be jumping for joy once a preorder opens! I don't think there is a release date for these yet, but I'm hoping we don't have too much longer to wait to play it again. Crash is one of those games that everyone enjoyed, whether you were a hardcore gamer or someone that rarely or never picks up a control to play a game, it's a total classic and a game that everyone enjoyed playing.

That rounds up this post about my favourite picks from the Playstation E3 conference, what are you looking forward to? Anything you're really not looking forward to or disappointed by? Let me know as I'd love to hear your thoughts!

P.S. I hope you've been enjoying the more game related posts, I have plenty more lined up as I'm really finding my love of gaming again and I'm excited to share it all with you! Let me know what you'd like to see me write more about!
